Organisers of Waterford Pride have thanked supporters and volunteers for making the event a success.
Waterford Pride, which took place between August 18 and August 20, hosted a number of activities and events across the weekend including a 5K, Born This Way dance workshop, boat party, yoga, street party, drag show, hike, swim and walking tour, as well as the main parade event with floats and music.
Speaking to Waterford Live, a representative said, "The weekend was absolutely fantastic. The weather held off and the turn out for our Parade was brilliant."
In a video posted on Facebook, the organisers stated, "What a turn out we had this weekend. The support, the feedback and the vibes were out of this world. We had people travel the length and breath of the country to be with us. There is SOOO many people who came together to make our vision for the Parade come to life.
"We’d love to give a special shout out to all the team at EveryEvent. The guys went above and beyond to make our day and night time events a roaring success. To TV Honan at Spraoi and Waterford Recovery Services for helping us with an AMAZING float.
"Thanks to Niall Griffin from South East Custom Classics, who kindly chauffeured Beat 102 103’s Niall Power and Shonagh Lyons down the quay.
"To Waterford Gardaí for keeping us safe and Waterford City Council for allowing this to happen. Thanks to Waterford Fire Services for leading the way down the Quays. Not forgetting our queens, Divalicious, Tina D Parton, Ivanna Fist, Charmin Eletrik and Ladt Fifi Fondue who brought the glam.
"Thanks to our sponsors, corporate partners, raffle donators and everyone in between. To our OUTSTANDING volunteers and committee members who have worked tirelessly to make all this happen. Finally, to each individual who came out to any event across the weekend. We do this for you. We look forward to growing and bringing you a BIGGER festival in 2024! Always remember, you do you!"
