A Waterford garda spokesperson provided details of the operation in a post on social media

Gardaí have boarded trains at Plunkett Station in recent days as part of an operation targeting criminal activity.

They provided details of the operation in a post on social media on Sunday evening.

In the Facebook post, a garda spokesperson said: “As part of Operation Twin Tracks, members of Gardai from Unit D performed proactive patrols on trains at Plunkett Station to deter criminal activity and to ensure public safety.”

Operation Twin Tracks is a joint initiative by An Garda Síochána, Iarnród Éireann (Irish Rail), Transdev (Luas), and the National Transport Authority (NTA) aimed at preventing and detecting anti-social behaviour on public transport.

It looks to combine high-visibility policing with community engagement across DART, Luas, and intercity rail networks.
