Theatre Royal Waterford set for 'unforgettable theatrical experience'

Theatre Royal Waterford is set to host an unforgettable theatrical experience this August with GLUE, a bold and captivating one-woman show written and performed by local theatremaker Niamh Fennessy. Presented in partnership with Little Red Kettle, GLUE runs for two nights only - 15th and 16th August.

Following a successful debut at Cork Arts Theatre, GLUE arrives in Waterford for the first time, bringing with it a whirlwind of humour, chaos and raw emotion. With biting wit and heart, Niamh Fennessy’s unnamed teenage protagonist leads the audience through tales of theft, breakups, sisterhood, car air fresheners, and kleptomaniac boyfriends - all while waiting on one life-changing phone call.

Niamh Fennessy is an actor, playwright, and theatremaker from Waterford. A graduate of MTU Cork School of Music with a BA in Theatre and Drama Studies, her work blends sharp wit with emotional resonance, often exploring the complexities of contemporary womanhood. She has worked with companies such as Shakespeare Squared, Curious State and Red N’ Blue, while also developing her own original theatre projects. Glue marks her first solo show to be staged in her hometown, following a successful run in Cork.

Blurring the lines between character and audience, GLUE turns the theatre into a confessional space, a comedy club, and a heartfelt coming-of-age journey. “Glue is a love letter to theatre and to the girls whose stories are often dismissed onstage,” says Niamh. “It’s about making people laugh and connecting us through the power of shared storytelling.”

Directed by emerging theatre talents Alison McCormack and stage-managed by Ava Manning, the production showcases a new generation of artists with something urgent to say, and a creative way of saying it.

Don’t miss this exciting hometown staging. Tickets are available now from the Theatre Royal Waterford website or box office on 051 874402.
