A TD has appeared in court over a drink driving allegation.
Malcolm Byrne, aged 52, with an address in Gorey, Co Wexford, is accused of driving a car in excess of legal limits for alcohol consumption on May 28.
Law graduate Mr Byrne, a Fianna Fáil TD for Wicklow-Wexford, previously said he had been stopped at a mandatory garda checkpoint between his hotel and Dublin airport early that morning.
The charge suggests that he was above the 67 miligramme of alcohol per 100 millitres of urine limit, with a concentration of 156 milligrammes.
Judge Tom McSharry adjourned the matter for a next hearing in March.
He also directed a disclosure date in February to gardaí.
Mr Byrne, a party spokesman and also a former senator, stepped down as chairman of the Oireachtas Committee on Artificial Intelligence after the arrest.
