Works to improve two popular Waterford playgrounds to begin in September

Cllr Kate O’Mahoney raised the issue at the June meeting of the Dungarvan-Lismore Municipal District
Works to improve two popular playgrounds in County Waterford are set to begin in September, a council meeting has heard.
Sinn Féin councillor Kate O’Mahoney spoke on the subject of the Dungarvan Linear Park and Walton Park at the June meeting of the Dungarvan-Lismore Municipal District.
Cllr O’Mahoney said: “The first one is just in relation to playground tenders for Dungarvan and Abbeyside playgrounds.
“It’s something I have been pushing for for a really, really long time and I was just wondering if we can get confirmation as to when works will begin.
“I suppose we need assurance that the works will begin promptly and will be completed as soon as possible.
“Local children and children visiting from elsewhere deserve the highest standards of equipment that are safe and enjoyable.”
In response, Maria Goff, Senior Executive Engineer at Waterford City and County Council, outlined when the works will begin.
“With regards to the playgrounds in Linear Park and Walton Park, we’ve awarded the contract and works are going to commence around September time this year,” Ms Goff said.
