Waterford is set to sparkle once again this winter as Ireland's largest Christmas festival, Winterval, returns from November 21 to December 23, 2025.
Santa's Grotto, one of the festival's biggest highlights, is back in the city's historic underground vaults with tickets now officially on sale from September 3. Families are being urged to book early, as demand is expected to be huge.
This year's Grotto promises an even more magical experience where children will be welcomed by Santa's elves, explore a twinkling festive wonderland, and meet the man in red himself before posing for unforgettable photos.

Festival Director Trevor Darmody said Winterval 2025 will be "more magical than ever" as the event celebrates its 13th year, running every Thursday to Sunday to give families more chances to soak up the festive spirit.
Alongside the Grotto, Winterval will once again transform Waterford's Viking streets with its famous Christmas market, local crafts, artisan food, festive menus in restaurants and cafes, and stunning light displays.
The full programme details will be revealed in October, but organisers promise a winter wonderland that cements Waterford's reputation as the European City of Christmas.
Tickets for Santa's Grotto are available now at winterval.ie.
