‘What a shame’ - Frustration at illegal dumping in scenic part of Waterford

A local councillor has expressed his frustration at illegal dumping taking place in a scenic part of County Waterford.

Sinn Féin councillor Donncadh Mulcahy addressed the issue in a post on social media last week.

In the post on Facebook, Cllr Mulchay wrote: “What a beautiful view of the mountains through the trees in the distance.

“Pity somebody [was] fly tipping again in a scenic part of West Waterford. Another day, another fly tipping issue logged.”

Attached to the post was a picture of the illegal dumping in question.

A number of locals expressed their anger at the incident in the comments section of the post.

One woman said: “Water off a duck, they just don't care.”

“Filthy people who leave their mess for others to clean,” another woman wrote.

Others described such behavior as “dreadful” and “heartbreaking”.

It is the latest in a number of instances of illegal dumping which have been reported in West Waterford in recent weeks.
