Eight counties in Ireland are bracing for more possible flooding as a Status Yellow Rain Warning is to remain in place until Tuesday afternoon and evening.
Rain warning for Dublin, Louth, Wicklow is in place until 9pm tonight while the warning for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Cork, Waterford is in place until 3pm this afternoon.

Met Éireann has warned of more possible flooding in places as further heavy rain will fall on saturated ground. Combined with high river levels and high tides could also lead to river flooding and difficult travel conditions.
Carlow weatherman Alan O'Reilly has said that while more rain is on the way, river levels in Carlow and Wexford have fallen "back well below median flood level".

For the rest of the week, Met Éireann has forecast low pressure to the southwest of Ireland that will bring further spells of rain, with heavy and persistent falls affecting southern and eastern areas.

Today
Today will be mostly cloudy. Rain over the southern half of Ireland will gradually move northwards, becoming lighter and patchier further north. Scattered showers will follow into southern areas this afternoon. Flooding is possible in places due to a combination of already saturated ground, high river levels and high tides. Highest temperatures of 4 to 9 degrees with moderate to fresh easterly winds.
Cloudy for most with patchy outbreaks of rain and drizzle tonight. There will be occasional clear breaks later in the night over the southwest where mist and fog patches may form. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 6 or 7 degrees with light to moderate easterly winds, mildest in the south.
Wednesday
Wednesday will be mostly cloudy with showers feeding up from the south, a few of them heavy. Some brighter spells at times also, the best of these over the midlands and western counties. Highest temperatures of 5 to 10 degrees, with mostly moderate easterly winds.
Wednesday night will remain cloudy with rain feeding in from the south. across southern counties. Further north will be drier with some clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 8 degrees, with moderate to fresh easterly winds.
Thursday
Uncertainty in the forecast but current indications suggest a wet and windy day with widespread rain, turning persistent and heavy at times. Highest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees, with fresh to strong easterly winds.

Outbreaks of rain and drizzle will continue overnight but will gradually become patchier and confined to the south and east towards morning. Ulster and north Connacht will stay mostly dry overnight apart from the odd shower. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 6 degrees, mildest in the south, in fresh to strong and gusty easterly winds, stronger along coasts.
Friday
Friday is looking to be another wet and windy day with widespread outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Heavy and persistent falls will mostly affect the south and east. Highest temperatures of 5 to 10 degrees, with fresh to strong easterly winds.
Current indications are for similar conditions to persist into the weekend.
