WATERFORD WEATHER: Rain expected today (March 6) with very cold temperatures overnight

Outbreaks of rain and highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees are expected today (March 6). 

That's according to Met Éireann, which also forecasts colder, brighter weather from this afternoon. 

Tonight, rain and drizzle will cover the southern half of the country and will gradually clear southwards. 

Long clear spells will develop and it will become very cold with lowest temperatures of 0 and -4 degrees with a widespread sharp frost and some icy stretches. 

A few wintry showers will develop on north facing coasts.
