Waterford gardai confirm plans for 'community van' to visit rural villages next week

Members of An Garda Siochana will travel to a number of locations to meet local people
Members of the public are being advised that members of An Garda Siochana will travel to a number of rural villages in County Waterford next week as part of their community engagement initiative.
On Wednesday, April 16 the dedicated community van will be at the following locations.
- Portlaw (Square) 10am to 11am
- Rathgormack (Church carpark) 11.30am to 12.30pm
- Leamybrien (Garda Station) 1.45pm to 2.45pm
- Stradbally Village Square 3pm to 4pm
"An Garda Síochána will be available in our community van to complete forms, discuss concerns, report crime or any other business that requires garda attention. The clinics provide an excellent opportunity for engagement with our local communities," said a spokesperson.
Gardai say the community engagement initiative, which was launched late last year, has been well-received in the rural villages they have visited.
Last year, it was announced that a number of community vans, which can be used as mobile garda stations, had been deployed to garda divisions across the country.
They enable members of the force to travel to rural communities which are not served by a local garda station.
