Waterford finalist announced for Better Farm Awards

Waterford has a finalist in this year’s FBD Better Farming Awards, awarding the highest levels of achievement made in the industry’s move towards a more sustainable sector.
The awards reward initiatives, research and practices that are helping Irish agriculture meet its economic, social and environmental challenges.
They go beyond the headlines to recognise the real difference achieved by those who have excelled in various areas of
agriculture.
The Waterford finalist is - Cormac Tagging Community/Discussion Group Incentive Scheme, The Waterford Upland Sheep Discussion Group.
The group's question was: How do they educate ourselves on our upland resources when nothing exists to meet their needs?
Against this background, they developed the project to develop and evaluate an upland education module for upland farmers to devise mechanisms for sharing the area's natural and cultural heritage with the broader community.
The inaugural Better Farming Awards gala evening presentations will take place in the Heritage Hotel, Killenard, Laois on Thursday November 30, 2023.
