The driver of the car, described as "an adult male", was assessed at the scene and did not require hospital treatment.

The road was closed overnight as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators carried out a technical examination, with gardaí noting that "local diversions are in place" while the scene remains sealed off.

Gardaí are urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who may have camera footage, to come forward.
