It may be the start of the 2023 First Division campaign but an important fixture looms ahead for Waterford FC this week.

The Blues welcome fellow title challengers Galway United to the RSC on Friday knowing a win would make up for last week's dropped points to Longford Town.

Galway United come into the fixture with a 100% record, defeating Finn Harps and Treaty United in their opening two outings.

Danny Searle's side, who sit on four points on the league table, will be familiar with the Tribesmen - having overcome John Caulfield's outfit in the First Division play-offs last season.

Both clubs will fancy their chances of making the step up to the Premier Division next year.

Kick-off is at 7.45pm in Waterford this Friday, March 3.
