PICTURES: Waterford First Responder host first-ever 'Oglach Ball'

Gall event aims to acknowledge all the hard work that voluntary groups do around the city

The Waterford First Responders group hosted the very first 'Oglach Ball' in the Tower Hotel, Waterford at the weekend to acknowledge all the hard work that voluntary groups do around the city.  at the weekend to acknowledge all the hard work that voluntary groups do around the city.

On the night, volunteers were presented with awards for their dedication and commitment to their respective groups.

In attendance were Re-A-Suir, Waterford City River Rescue, the Portlaw branch of the Irish Red Cross and the Waterford first responders themselves.

Mayor of Waterford City and County, Cllr Joe Kelly, acknowledged the volunteers by presenting the awards and he praised the volunteers for giving up their time to help people in their local communities. 

Copperhead Road Band have travelled from all over Ireland to play at the amazing night and local DJ Darragh O’Connor also came on board to support this event.

Derek Burke, chairman of Waterford First Responders said the ball was a huge success and hopefully, it will become a regular event in Waterford City.
