A man arrested earlier this week in connection with the 2005 murder of Eoin McCarthy has been released without charge, gardaí have confirmed.
The man, aged in his 40s, was arrested on Wednesday evening (March 11) as part of the investigation into the killing of the 27-year-old from Ashwood Park in Clondalkin, Dublin.
In an update issued today, Friday, March 13, gardaí confirmed the suspect has since been released.
A Garda spokesperson said: "The male (aged in his 40s) who was arrested in relation to this investigation has been released without charge.
"A file will be prepared for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions."

Mr McCarthy's remains were discovered on November 4, 2005 in Ballinagee near Hollywood in Co Wicklow.
A post-mortem examination found he died from a gunshot wound to the back of the head.
The suspect arrested earlier this week had been detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda station in the Eastern Region.
Gardaí say investigations into the murder remain ongoing.
