Mason Corkery from Limerick
A Limerick GAA club and soccer club have created a GoFundMe for a 13-year-old boy who has been diagnosed with cancer.
The young boy named Mason Corkery is a member Knockainey GAA and Knockainey Soccer Clubs in Limerick and has been diagnosed with stage four Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
The GoFundMe was created two days ago and has accumulated a whopping €51,792 for young Mason and his family.
Mason is a hurler, footballer and soccer player for the clubs in Limerick and has just had his life flipped upside down with his recent diagnosis.
The clubs said: "With this diagnosis comes many trips to and from Dublin where Mason is receiving his treatment in the Oncology ward in Crumlin Hospital and also time away from work for his family so they can care for Mason.
"He is a talented hurler, footballer and soccer player and he has said that he is really looking forward to getting back playing sports with his friends in both clubs.
"There is nothing like having the support of community behind you especially in times like this and we want to show Mason and his family just how much he is loved here in Knockainey and the surrounding areas. So we are asking everyone who can to please get behind us on this very worthy cause."
The GoFundMe can be found here.
In a Facebook post, the clubs also said: "All help greatly appreciated for Mason & his family. Mason is one of our up and coming rising stars.
"Mason is facing an incredibly tough battle against cancer, and our community is coming together to support him and his family during this challenging time. Every donation, no matter the size, can make a real difference in helping them cover medical expenses and show Mason how much he means to us all."
