Investigating Gardaí are probing if the fatal attack on a teenager (17) at a Tusla accommodation facility at Donaghmede, Dublin was started by an argument over food, the Irish Independent has reported.
A seventeen year old teenager residing in the Tusla facility for unaccompanied minors seeking international protection in Ireland was stabbed fatally in the chest and the head, yesterday October 16.
The stabbed teenager was pronounced dead at the scene, despite receiving treatment from paramedics.
The teenager arrested in connection with the incident is understood to have arrived in Ireland as recently as five days ago, Journalist Robin Schiller said on RTÉ Radio One’s This Morning show.
It is understood that the teenager - who is currently in hospital with non-life threatening injuries - is of Ukrainian nationality.

An Garda Síochána are waiting to speak with the juvenile who is currently receiving hospital treatment.
The Gardaí are currently seeking accounts from witnesses of the incident and have set up an incident room at Coolock Garda station.
Robin Schiller told This Morning that the Gardaí are not currently looking for anyone else in relation to the incident.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin has responded to the incident, stating “I am shocked and saddened at the loss of life in a Tusla care facility in north Dublin today.”
“Our thoughts go to the bereaved family and those injured during this incident.”
He continued: “The wellbeing of the young people in this facility and the staff is now paramount.”
“It is important they are offered every possible support at this difficult time as An Garda Síochána conduct a thorough investigation.”
