As Tipperary prepares to battle Cork in today's All-Ireland hurling final, Gardaí in neighbouring Kilkenny have posted a cheeky message to their Premier County counterparts.
In a tongue-in-cheek Facebook post, An Garda Síochána Kilkenny addressed what they jokingly called "The Elephant in the Room" - namely, their proximity to Tipp and suspicions about their team loyalties.
"As the huge clash of Tipperary and Cork approaches, we feel it necessary to point out that as neutrals in Kilkenny we have no favourites," they wrote, before adding with a wink: "Some though have scurrilously suggested that our colour scheme on newer vehicles has vague similarities to that of the Premier County's colours!! We of course refute this."
They didn't stop there.
"A second point is that while chanting 'TIPP, TIPP, TIPP' might be acceptable in Thurles, Cashel and Clonmel, it might not go down as well in the Marble City," the post continued.
Despite the playful digs, they rounded out their message with a good luck wish for Sunday's showdown, and a sly request if Tipperary do manage to bring Liam MacCarthy home.
"Good luck tomorrow and if you do win, mind Liam for us for next year."
