ALERT: Gardai seek witnesses as three women die on Irish roads in less than 24 hours

Investigations are underway after three women were killed in separate road crashes across the country in less than 24 hours this weekend.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the fatal incidents that happened in Clare, Meath on Wexford on Saturday.

A cyclist, aged in her 70s, died following a collision involving a tractor close to Tulla in Clare at around 12.45pm; a pedestrian, aged in her 60s, died after she was struck by a car near Ashbourne in Meath at around 7.10pm while another pedestrian, aged in her late 20s, died in hospital following a collision that occurred at Curraghgraigue, Enniscorthy, County Wexford at around 3pm.

"Gardaí and emergency services responded to reports of the collision involving a car and pedestrian, which occurred on the R702. The pedestrian, aged in her late 20s, was removed from the scene in a serious condition to Wexford General Hospital where she later passed away," said a garda spokesperson this Sunday morning who added that the male driver of the car, aged in his 20s, received medical assessment at the scene.  

Forensic examinations have been completed at the scene of the Wexford incident and gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward.   

"Any road users who may have camera footage and who were travelling in the area between 2.30pm and 3.30pm on Saturday are asked to make the footage available.
