Over 25k have been raised in memory of Joseph Conlon, a Monaghan man who died in Australia.
Joseph (Joe) Conlon died in a tragic accident in Melbourne on Tuesday, April 25, 2023.
The young man was originally from Drumakill, Castleblayney, in Co Monaghan.
On April 28, Joe's friends ran the Mornington Half Marathon, in a bid to raise funds for the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust. So far, €25,295 have been raised.
"As many of you may know we sadly lost our best friend Joseph Conlon to an accident 11 months ago here in Melbourne Australia. On April 28th, 3 days after Joe’s 1-year anniversary, we as a group of friends will be running the Mornington Half Marathon to raise funds For the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust," they explained on a GoFundMe page.
"This is a charity that will forever hold a place in our hearts after the extraordinary work they done to get Joe home to his family after his passing. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated for this wonderful charity to help continue their incredible work."
