Appeal to find missing 40-year-old man called off after discovery of body

An appeal seeking information on the whereabouts of a missing Carlow man has stood down following the discovery of a body.

Forty year old John Coakley was reported missing from his home in Carlow Town on Saturday April 15, 2023.

The missing person appeal was called off after the body of a male was found on Monday June 5 in Carlow.

Several river banks and railway lines had previously been searched by Gardaí and members of the Irish Defence Forces.

An Garda Síochána would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance.
