Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Waterford city on Christmas Day.
The alarm was raised shortly after 11am when emergency services were alerted to the collision, involving a car and an e-scooter, at the junction of Manor Hill (Bunker’s Hill) and Hennessy’s Road in Waterford city.
"The driver of the e-scooter, a male in his 40s, was taken to University Hospital Waterford where he was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the car, a male in his 80s, was taken to University Hospital Waterford for treatment of injuries believed to be non life-threatening," said a garda spokesperson who added that no other injuries were reported.

Motorists are being advised that Forensic Collision Investigators are conducting a technical examination of the scene and that the roads remain closed, with local diversions in place.
Gardaí have launched an investigation and they are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
Any road users, who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and who were travelling in the area between 10.45am and 11.15am on Thursday are asked to make this footage available.
