A man has been charged by gardai investigating a road crash in Waterford last year in which two teenage boys were killed.

A teenage boy - 15-year-old Gilbert Collins - who was travelling on the e-scooter was pronounced deceased at the scene while a second youth - 17-year-old Avuzwa Idris - who was also travelling on the e-scooter, died in hospital ten days later.
Investigations into what happened have been ongoing since and in an update, issued this Tuesday morning, gardai confirmed there has been a significant development.
"A male, in his 40s, has been charged in connection with this investigation and is due before a sitting of Waterford District Court this Tuesday, April 8 2025," said a spokesperson.

Gardai have not publicly disclosed the specific details of the charges which have been brought in the case.
