Planning permission has been granted for the installation of two padel courts at a popular seaside location in County Waterford.

The courts are set to be located on the grounds of Dunmore East Golf Club at an address of Nymph Hall, Dunmore East.

The development will see the installation of two modular and portable padel tennis courts, complete with artificial grass surfaces.

Each court will measure approximately 20 metres in length and 10 metres in width and will be constructed using a self-supporting fibreglass frame system.

The structures will be able to be fully dismantled and relocated at any time, leaving no trace or alteration to the underlying surface.

Four metre high fencing will be installed around the perimeter of the courts, along with six metre high integrated LED lighting.

These lights will operate only when the courts are in use, automatically switching off when play ends.

This aims to eliminate light spill, glare and night time disturbance in order to ensure minimal impact on neighbouring properties.

A number of other ancillary site works will also be carried out.

The application was submitted by Padel Sports 100 Limited on February 5. No third party submissions were made in relation to the plans.

Subsequently, Waterford City and County Council granted permission for the development on April 1, with five conditions attached.
