An example of the graffiti in question
Waterford students have expressed their outrage after ‘No Parking’ graffiti was written on a number of cars parked in the city.
The cars were parked in the Larchville / Lisduggan area, near the South East Technological University (SETU) campus on the Cork Road.
‘No Parking’ was written in black marker on a number of cars, including on bonnets, windows and doors.
The cars are alleged to have been parked on a public road, not blocking any entrances and not parked on double yellow lines.
A number of Waterford residents have reacted to the incident on social media.

One user said that people living in the area “need a healthy dose of reality and need to come to terms with the fact they don’t own the road”.
“What do they expect people to do with cars?’, they added.
Another user highlighted the number of students parking in the area, saying: “Writing on cars is absolutely diabolical. Yes, it's most certainly criminal damage. However, the volume of students parking in the area is beyond extreme.
“The entire car park at the Craftsman would be full from 8am, meaning any staff coming to work on that business parade need to park elsewhere. No customer parking either.
“This has now gone ‘Pay & Display’ and although the students have moved on, it is not fair on any of the customers. Paddy Brown’s car park is the very same.”
Another user described the parking situation as “awful for everyone”, including staff, students and residents. “However, writing on someone’s car is pure evil”, they added.
Commenting on the incident, local Sinn Féin councillor John Hearne said: "We have a great Community Garda in David Browne and we're confident they will find the person [responsible] for the damage."
An Garda Síochána and the South East Technological University (SETU) have both been approached for comment on the issue.
