Gardaí are investigating two separate incidents involving wheelie bins in Waterford at the weekend.

Earlier that same day, around midday, two wheelie bins were also taken from a house in the Avondale, Kilcohan area of Waterford city.

Highlighting concerns around fire-related incidents in the run-up to Halloween, gardaí have asked the public to report any stockpiling of materials that could be used for fires. Such reports can be made to the County Council or directly to Gardaí.

As part of Operation Tombola, gardaí will be running extra patrols across Waterford city and county in the weeks ahead.

They are also reminding the public that the sale, possession, or use of fireworks is illegal. Fireworks purchased abroad and brought into Ireland will also be seized, with offenders facing prosecution.

Anyone with information on the incidents is asked to contact Tramore Garda Station, or use the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
