Independent Cllr Declan Barry brought up the issue at a recent council meeting, stating that many locals were forced to stay inside during the summer months because the smell was so bad.

"I again raised the issue of Woodstown beach. Decomposing sea lettuce, a horrible stench, oyster cages washed up on the beach and public toilets, that are no longer fit for purpose.

"I'll continue to campaign for this area in an attempt to restore Woodstown beach to its natural beauty, that we've all come to love and enjoy, down through the years," Cllr Barry said on social media.
