Gardai are seeking to identify a man and woman who 'forced' a young man with a learning disability to withdraw money from an ATM in Waterford city centre.
In an appeal, gardai say the incident happened at around 1.50pm on Tuesday.
"A 21-year-old male with learning disabilities was walking up John Street in Waterford city centre. As he neared the Centra on John’s street, he was stopped by a male and a female, who he did not know. They demanded cash from this young man and then walked to an ATM opposite the Kazbar and forced him to withdraw a sum of money," said crime prevention officer, Sergeant Deirdre O’Neill.

According to gardai, the male suspect is described as a white male, around 27 years old with brown hair and facial hair on his chin. He is around 5ft 9in in height with a chubby build and he was wearing a light black jacket and black tracksuit.
The female is described as being a white female, around 25 years old with blonde hair. She is around 5ft 8in in height with distinctive eyebrows. She was wearing a cream white jacket with no sleeves.
"Gardaí attached to the Waterford Crime Unit are looking to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have observed this incident to contact them on 051 303500 you can also use the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111," said Sgt O'Neill.
