Tragedy in Waterford as man dies while visiting family as fundraiser is launched

67-year-old Alias John sadly collapsed and unexpectedly passed away on his travels.

While on a trip to Waterford to see his beloved grandchildren, 67-year-old Alias John sadly collapsed and unexpectedly passed away on his travels.
Mr John was hospitalised for a total of 50 days, which saw him be placed on life support.
Unfortunately, due to multiple health complications, continuing life support or further medical interventions was no longer possible. He was then transitioned to palliative care, where he peacefully passed away on New Years Eve.
The grief-stricken family wishes to bring his body back to his home in Kerala, India, for cremation and final rites, alongside their extended family. However, this process involves substantial financial expenses as well as extensive paperwork.
With the paperwork already being underway, the family are now seeking support to meet the significant financial burden involved in this already devastating situation.
The late Mr John was the father of a well-known and loved member of the Waterford Malayalee community, Basil Raj, and they have come together to set a GoFundMe up, in hopes of easing the stress that Mr Basil, and his family, are currently experiencing.
One of the organisers took to the fundraising page and said, "As a community, it is our responsibility to support them in this challenging time.
"We kindly request everyone to extend your support, whether financially or by spreading the word. Every contribution, big or small, will help the family navigate this difficult situation. Let us come together as a community to show our solidarity and provide strength to Mr. Basil and his family," they concluded.
Of the €11,000 target, an astonishing €10,780 has been raised so far.
