Time to start digging! Goldco, one of the premier precious metals IRA companies in the United States, conducted a study to find the best treasure hunting hotspots in the UK.
According to data pulled from the British Museum, more than 683,682 artifacts have been discovered across the UK.
5,857 of those items were found in the Republic of Ireland.
GoldCo broke down this data to reveal where the most treasure was found, and discovered that Co Waterford ranks in eighth place overall, making it one of the top locations to find treasure outside of the UK.
In Ireland, Waterford is the second best place to discover treasure, losing out to Dublin, which came in first with 816 precious metal objects being discovered.
A total of 250 artefacts were found in Co Waterford, with 36% being categorised as treasure, for example, two gold items were discovered, along with 88 silver objects.
Other Irish counties that ranked in Ireland's top 10 include Cork, Meath, Limerick, Louth, Clare, Wicklow, Kilkenny, and Mayo.
