Waterford man receives milestone achievement at Irish Hotels Federation Awards

The father of two has been working at the Tower Hotel and Leisure Centre in Waterford for the past 28 years as a Head Porter.

Waterford native, Dave Lacey, has been honoured for his incredible service at the Irish Hotels Federation Awards. 

Over 155 guests attended the annual awards event, which took place in Newpark Hotel, Killarney, to celebrate and recognise nominees from hotels and guesthouses who have made an outstanding contribution to their workplace.

The father of two has been working at the Tower Hotel and Leisure Centre in Waterford for the past 28 years as a Head Porter, and his passion for the role did certainly not go unnoticed.

Taking to social media, a spokesperson for the hotel said, "A huge congratulations to our very own Dave Lacey for receiving a well-deserved Long Service Award, 

"With dedication and excellence, Dave has been an integral part of our team. We are incredibly proud and grateful to celebrate this milestone with him," they graciously added.

Speaking with Caroline O'Connor, the front office manager for the Tower Hotel and Leisure Centre, she is delighted to see the award go to someone as hardworking as Dave.

She said, "He's great, we would be lost without him, he's really old school you know,

"Attention to detail, loves the guests. You can really see it in his work," she stated.

The Tower Hotel and Leisure Centre is famous for it's glamorous rooms and beautiful gardens. Opened in 1962, the property lays on the site of the former Imperial and Adelphi Hotels, and is Waterford's first purpose built hotel.
