'One of the good ones' - Tributes paid following sad and sudden death of young Waterford man

Dermot Hickey passed away on Sunday

Tributes have been paid following the sad and sudden passing of Dermot Hickey, late of Town Court, Dungarvan, Co. Waterford

Dermot passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2024. He is predeceased by his mother Rose Hickey.

Dermot will be greatly missed by his loving father Pat Hickey, beloved partner Ailbhe Kelly, sister Sonia (Young), nephew Cian and niece Sadhbh, brother in law Shay Young, Ailbhe’s daughter Amy, all his aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Tributes have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and remembered Dermot, with one mourner writing,

"Sorry to hear about Dermot's passing. He will always be remembered as one of the good ones, a true gent. Condolences to all his family."

Another wrote,

"Our sincerest sympathies to Ailbhe, Pat, Sonia and all of the Hickey family on the sad passing of Dermot. Our hearts are broken for you all. Dermot was a gentleman whom will be missed by all. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this truly sad time. May Dermot rest in peace."

While another wrote,

"So sorry for your loss thinking of you all at this time. He was such a lovely man."

Funeral Arrangements

Reposing at Drohan’s Funeral Home, Dungarvan (Eircode X35 XF67) on Thursday, December 5, from 5pm - 7pm.

Funeral Mass on Friday, December 6, at 11am in St. Mary’s Parish Church, Dungarvan.

Cremation service will take place at 2pm on Friday at the Island Crematorium, Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork.
