Tramore is 'best town' in Waterford - but for one very niche reason
Tramore is the best place in Waterford for solar energy production.
NRG Panel analysed how much electricity Waterford residents can expect to produce from solar. 130 locations within Co. Waterford were captured in the study and calculations account for weather conditions, solar radiation, along with many other factors, for each area.
With potential to produce 4,249.42 kWh p/y, Tramore takes the title of Best Place in Waterford for solar, followed closely behind by the nearby areas of Kilmacleague (4,216.18 kWh) and Rathmoylan (4,198.7 kWh).
At the opposite end of the table are the mountainous and hilly areas of Graignagower (3,503.38 kWh), Ballymacarbry (3,506.1 kWh) and Kilmacomma (3,517.4 kWh).
For perspective, the average Irish household consumes 4,200 kWh p/y, according to the Commission for the Regulation of Utilities (CRU).
