Uisce Eireann has confirmed that homes and businesses who had been served by the Graiguenageeha Public Water Supply are no longer 'at risk' due to the completion of works.

A targeted investment by the Utility, including the installation of over 2km of new watermains to allow decommissioning of the Graiguenageeha Public Water Supply has ensured a safe and reliable water supply is now in place.

After concerns were raised by the EPA and considering the risks which were identified on the supply, a decision was made to decommission that plant and install the new watermain connecting to Stradbally Water Supply.

Pat Duggan, Regional Drinking Water Compliance Manager at Uisce Éireann says he is proud of the team effort which ensured the delivery of the works.

“At Uisce Éireann we are fully committed to identifying and addressing risks to drinking water quality. Our key focus remains the protection of public health through the provision of safe, clean and secure water supplies for local communities. This critical watermain installation ensures ongoing compliance with drinking water regulations and significantly reduces the risk of future water quality issues," he commented.

The project involved the installation of 2.3km of watermains connecting the network to the Stradbally Water Supply and decommissioning of Graiguenageeha.
