'A wonderful lady' - Sad goodbye to beloved mother and grandmother in Waterford

May Carmel Rest In Peace

Carmel McDonagh (nee O’Donnell) late of Passage Road, Waterford and formerly of Moville, Co. Donegal, passed away peacefully at home in the loving care of her family on Sunday February 4 

Predeceased by her husband Tom and her son Tommy, Carmel will be sadly missed by her son Maurice, daughters Aileen and Fiona, grandchildren Lucas, Lily, Livia, Alison and Daniel, son-in-law Anthony, daughter-in-law Britta, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

May Carmel Rest In Peace

Reposing will take place at Tom Hennessy’s Funeral Home, Johnstown, Waterford (X91FW4A) this evening, Wednesday 7, from 5pm to 7pm.

Requiem Mass on Thursday February 8 at 10.30am in St. Joseph & Benildus Church, Newtown, Waterford, followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ballygunner, Waterford.

The family have requested that the house be private.

Mass will be live streamed here from 10.30am on Thursday.

Heartfelt condolences have been left by those who knew Carmel on Rip.ie:

One mourner said,

"Our deepest sympathy to Aileen, Maurice, Fiona and their families on the sad loss of their beloved Mum, Carmel, a wonderful lady.

"Lovely memories of meeting her at family occasions , always kind and warm-hearted.
May you rest in peace Carmel and be reunited with your loved ones, Tom and son Tommy."

Another said,

"We were so sorry to hear the sad news of your wonderful Mum passing...l have fond memories, growing up & being in & out of your home,playing & always felt welcome.

"May your precious memories of her, sustain you in your time of grief & into the future.Thinking of you all."

While another said,

"Aileen, Maurice and Fiona, I am so sorry for your loss. She was a fantastic woman. Such a great friend to my mother. She will be sorely missed. May she R.I.P."
