Who has been elected in the Waterford local election and where will other seats go?
The Waterford local election count is advancing well across the six electoral areas. As of lunchtime on Sunday, 12 candidates have been elected. 32 will take up seats on the new council by the time the count has concluded.
See below our breakdown of each of the LEAs in Waterford
Tramore / Waterford City West
There are 6 seats being contested in the Tramore / Waterford City West Electoral Area with just one filled after three counts. That seat has gone to Fine Gael's Lola O'Sullivan.
Joe Kelly (Ind) is likely to follow and win a seat on the next count while Blaise Hannigan (Ind), Joe Conway (Ind), Jim Griffin (SF) and Eamon Quinlan (FF) look all but guaranteed to win the remaining seats.
Waterford City East
There are also six seats being contested in the Waterford City East Electoral Area with two already filled by Declan Barry (Ind) and David Daniels (Ind), both of whom have reached the quota.
Fianna Fail's Adam Wyse, Pat Fitzgerald (SF) and Jim D'Arcy will all win seats but there is a fierce battle on for the last spot on the council for the area. Mary Roche (SD) and Darren Ryan (Ind) are separated by just 11 votes (678 to 667) after five counts. Transfers will tell the tale there as the counts continue.
Waterford City South
Two of the six seats in the south of the city have been filled by John Hearne and Donal Barry. Five counts have been concluded in the area and a major battle is on for the final two seat.
Jason Murphy (FF) on 975 votes looks likely to be the next candidate elected with the quota sitting at 1,058. Sinn Féin's Joeanne Bailey is also looking good for the fourth seat.
Frank Quinlan (FG), Seamus Ryan (LAB) and Kevin Burke (SF) are separated by just over a hundred votes so the final two seats will come down to the wire. At this stage, Quinlan and Burke are the most likely winners.
Dungarvan
Damien Geoghegan (FG) and Conor McGuinness (SF) have taken the first two seats in Dungarvan with four others still in play. Tom Cronin (FF) on 1,287 cotes after four counts is very close to the quota of 1,311 and will be elected.
Pat Nugent (FG) and Thomas Phelan (Lab) are also looking good to take seats in this six-seater. That leaves one seat left and Joe O'Riordan is leading the race for it on 667 votes but with more Fine Gael transfers to come, Monica Murphy (FG) is not out of it back on 518 votes.
Portlaw Kilmacthomas
Three of the five seats are filled in Portlaw-Kilmacthomas. John O’Leary (FF), Seanie Power (FG) and Liam Brazil (FG) have all got over the line, leaving two seats up for grabs.
Declan Clune (Ind) is sure to take the fourth seat while Catherine Burke (SF) on 731 and Ray Murphy (FF) on 697 look locked in a straight match for the fifth and final seat.
Lismore
All three seats have been filled in Lismore after John Pratt (Lab), Niamh O'Donovan (FG) and Donnchadh Mulcahy (SF) all got over the line. Brian Buckley (Ind) missed out by 39 votes on the last count to Mulcahy.
