US rapper Azealia Banks labels Waterford Rose of Tralee 'ugly' in Instagram rant

Rapper Azealia Banks has labelled Waterford Rose and 2018 Rose of Tralee winner an 'ugly Irish girl' during a furious Instagram rant ahead of her show in Dublin on Tuesday night.

Banks, best known for her hit 212, hit out at Aer Lingus on Monday evening as she claimed she was unfairly targeted by staff onboard her scheduled flight from London to Dublin.

The US chart star and her manager then left the flight before it departed, sparking an Instagram story chain, during which the rapper called Irish women 'ugly.'

The comments sparked fury on social media with a number of people messaging the star to take issue with her comments. One user tackled Banks by sending her a photograph of Waterford Rose of Tralee Kirsten Mate Maher, saying 'you were saying. @azealiabanks?'

The US rapper appeared to reply with a laughing emoji and the hashtag #uglyirishgirl, saying, "Nah, you're chopped sis," in an apparent swipe.
