Waterford company raise funds for charity with road race
More than 200 runners and walkers took part in the sixth annual Sanofi Five Miles for M.S. Road Race in Waterford on Sunday, November 11.
The annual event raised several thousand euro for the local branch of M.S. Ireland who provide support to people living with multiple sclerosis in Waterford and neighbouring south Kilkenny.
Speaking afterwards, Ruth Beadle, Site Head Sanofi Waterford, said: “The road race starting and finishing onsite is one of our favourite C.S.R. activities each year as we welcome in a mix of serious amateur athletes and those who are just out for a fun walk or jog."
"Through the event, we have also gotten to know some of the people with M.S. who volunteer at M.S. Ireland and their stories about life with M.S. are very moving and inspiring. Their presence at the race with their families each year adds an extra dimension for participants and also for our own team of volunteers who organise the event very well," she added.
“Even the weather was kind to us – November in Ireland is not known for sunshine but it stayed dry and bright for just long enough for all of our runners, walkers and stewards to finish without being caught in a downpour!”
