Academic staff at Waterford IT balloted on accepting proposals put forward by WRC

Academic staff at Carlow IT and Waterford Institute of Technology are currently balloting on accepting proposals put forward by the Workplace Relations Commission with results expected this Friday.

The staff voted in favour of industrial action last month over management plans to submit an application for Technological University designation.

Teachers' Union of Ireland Branch Officers quoted lack of engagement, information and consultation in the process as the reason for their action.

The industrial action continues at present where all members of all grades are not engaging with TU related activities.
