Gardai have said a security alert on Waterford Quay this evening has been declared 'a hoax call.'
Speaking to Waterford Live this evening, a Garda spokesperson said "the area has been declared safe and gardai are standing down."
Treacy's hotel had earlier been evacuated after the call was received regarding a suspected bomb threat.
Emergency services attended the scene, with members of the Waterford Fire Service, Gardai and the ambulance service on site.
A safety cordon was in place with people being ushered back and told to avoid the area.
In a statement, Waterford Council said: "Gardaí have alerted us to an incident on the Quay towards the Bridge St area. Traffic backup is considerable. Please avoid the area if you can.
"Traffic build up now significant in Bridge St, the Quays, bilberry, Sallypark and Ferrybank. Please avoid the area."
However, Gardai have now declared a hoax and are leaving the area.
