Waterford man to be sentenced for the rape of three women over 12 years
A Waterford man will be sentenced in November for the rape of two sisters and a third woman over 12 years in the late 1970s and 1980s, the Irish Times reports.
Sisters Stephanie Hickey (46) and Deirdre Fahy (52) waived their right to anonymity so Bartholomew Prendergast (65) could be named in the case.
He pleaded guilty to two counts of rape and 13 counts of indecent assault of his sister-in-law Stephanie Hickey, who was aged between 12 and 15 at the time, at locations in Waterford and Tipperary between 1983 and 1987.
Prendergast also pleaded guilty to one count of indecent assault against Deirdre Fahy on a date between 1979 and 1981. She was aged between 13 and 14 years old, the Irish Times reported.
He further pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent assault of a third woman who was between 9 and 12 at the time of the abuse. She retained her right to anonymity.
Mr Prendergast will be sentenced in November.
