An Irish TV legend is set to make his pantomime debut in Waterford

A TV legend will be taking centre stage in a Waterford pantomime for the first time in his career.

Danny O’Carroll, known for his cheeky Buster Brady in Mrs Brown’s Boys, will feature as Dame in Jack and the Beanstalk at the SETU Arena.

Danny recently captured hearts as a finalist on RTE’s Dancing with the Stars and is no stranger to entertaining family audiences, but this marks his debut in the world of pantomime.

"I’ve spent my career making people laugh on TV, but stepping into the Dame’s outrageous shoes for the first time is something truly special," he said.

"The costumes, the jokes, the chaos - panto is pure joy, and I can’t wait to bring all of that energy to Waterford. I think the audiences are in for a very, very silly Christmas," he added.

Known for his quick wit, boundless energy, and instant rapport with audiences, Danny brings star power and humour that promise to make this production the must-see family show of the season.

His larger-than-life Dame Mother Hen will have children and parents alike in stitches, with comedic timing and playful improvisation that only he can deliver.

Running from 17 to 30 December, the show promises a sparkling mix of comedy, song, dance, and festive magic, and with Danny’s signature humour leading the way, audiences can expect a riot of laughter from start to finish.

The production also features Waterford’s own Richie Hayes returning home after acclaimed seasons in Dublin and Limerick, alongside accomplished performers including Sharon Clancy, Holly Ryan, and rising talents Evan O’Hanlon and Jamie Drohan.

A company of 45 young performers from local youth theatre groups adds even more sparkle, showcasing the next generation of stage stars from the South East.
