Waterford 'mass' labelled 'vile and disgusting' making a comeback next month

A comedic mass that has been labelled as a 'vile and disgusting attack' on the Catholic Church will be returning to Waterford next month.

Hosted by Bonnie Boux and Paddy Fagan, the Tits and MASS event will take place in The Reg on Sunday, October 12. 

The last time the 'mass' was held, which was in 2019, it resulted in 6,000 complaints being made to the venues and caused uproar among those who saw it as an 'attack' on the Catholic Church. 

It saw Bonnie Boux and fellow performer Paddy Fagan play the roles of Sister Sheila and Father Enda, who were excommunicated from the Church but continue to say mass.

This year, the characters return and promise a "feral" experience filled with food, funky beats, and entertaining surprises. 

There will also be a confession box and an appearance from 'the pope.' 

Announcing the event on Instagram, Bonnie Boux used the article that highlighted the complaints from 2019 to advertise next month's event. 

The Irish Times reported that the Irish Society for Christian Civilisation created a form encouraging people to complain about the show to The Reg and a bar in Dublin, which hosted the events.

The owner of The Reg responded to say past performances by Bonnie Boux have been 'tasteful' and 'successful.'
