RIP Padraig O’Rourke

Tributes have poured in for Padraig O’Rourke who sadly passed away recently.

Padraig was from Viewmount in Waterford and died on 20th August 2025 peacefully in the care of the staff of the Oak Ward, University Hospital surrounded by his loving family and his dedicated carers and family of the Brothers of Charity, Waterford.

Padraig is sadly missed by his heartbroken parents John and Patty, sister Eleanor, brother-in-law Joe (Fitzgerald), niece Ellen, cousins, extended family, relatives, neighbours and especially his friends at the Brothers of Charity, Waterford.

FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS:

Reposing at Thompson's Funeral Home, Barrack St, Waterford on Thursday (21st August) from 7:00pm to 8:30pm with vigil prayers and Rosary at 8:00pm.

Requiem Mass on arrival in St. Mary’s Church, Ballygunner, Waterford on Friday (22nd August) at 2pm followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Heartfelt messages have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Eileen, with one mourner writing,

"Sincere condolences to Eleanor and family on the passing of Padraig. He was a lovely gentle soul and will be truly missed by anyone that knew him. May he rest in eternal peace".

Another message said, "Eleanor, Patty ,John and your extended family. We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Padraig. We were lucky to have met Padraig when he was a member of Tramore and Waterford Arch Club. He will be greatly missed by so many. May Padraig fly high with the Angels, " The Committee and Volunteers in Tramore and Waterford Arch Club said.

"So sorry about Padraig’s passing, Eleanor. He was a gentle man in every sense of the word who loved his music and belted out the tunes! You couldn’t be in the room when himself and Dan were singing! We were talking about the good times this evening- mostly involving food, to be fair. May his gentle soul rest in peace," another person said.
