Urgent warning for dog owners in Waterford after three sheep killed in suspected attack

Gardaí are reminding all hill walkers in Waterford to be extra vigilant when walking their dogs following a sheep attack in which three sheep were killed.

The incident took place in Ballylaneen, Kilmacthomas, on May 27, 2025, where three sheep were killed in a suspected dog attack.

These are distressing incidents for farmers and the other animals and the onus is on the dog owners to ensure they have control of the animals at all times.

Gardaí said if you are taking your dogs with you please check with landowners and always keep your dog under control.
