In new figures provided by the Department of Social Protection to 7LÁ, the TG4 current affairs programme, there was 93,007 applications (All stages) registered in respect of 75,733 people totalling almost €12.8 million for the Humanitarian Assistance Scheme (HAS) that was opened after extensive damage caused by Storm Éowyn in January of this year.
Galway and Mayo had the highest amount of applications with 30,592 and 17,303 respectively.
Waterford came in with one of the lowest amount of applications with just 12.
Currently there are 22,149 applicants, whose claims have been decided and have not been awarded a payment in respect of Storm Éowyn.

In total, there were 93,007 applications registered in respect of 75,733 people totalling almost €12.8 million for HAS which was opened after extensive damage was caused by Storm Éowyn in January of this year. In contrast just 581 payments of HAS totaling €2,482,000 was paid in 2024 while €1.9 million in payments was made in 2023.
