Tributes have poured in as funeral details have been announced for 29-year-old Aidan Bergin, late of Kylemore, Clonea, Dungarvan, Waterford.
Aidan passed away on January 29, as a result of a tragic accident while skiing in a popular resort in Bulgaria.
A statement from the Bulgarian Red Cross said it was believed Aidan lost his balance and fell from a height of about 600 meters near the Todorka mountain peak in the south western region of Bulgaria.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and moved Mr Bergin to a nearby hospital in the town of Razlog via a helicopter.
Unfortunately, Aidan passed away the following day.
Heartfelt condolences were left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Aidan, with one mourner writing,
"My sincerest condolences to Niall and to Aidan's family. Gone too soon, he will be dearly missed by his many friends in Brussels. Such a fun, friendly and kind presence, I wish I'd had the opportunity to know him better. Sending strength and love. Suaimhneas síoraí dá anam."
Another wrote,
"Sincerest condolences to the Bergin family as well as Niall and Aidan's friends at this very difficult time. It was a privilege to have known him as he was one of the most friendly, kindhearted souls we have ever encountered. Praying for you all at this time. May Aidan’s gentle soul rest in peace."
While another wrote,
"My deepest condolences to family and friends of Aidan. It was a privilege to have known him. He was one of the friendliest, honest and funniest person I have met. May he rest in peace."
Aidan will be deeply missed by Niall, his parents Joe and Máire, brothers Patrick and Eoghan, sister Niamh and her fiancé David, aunts, uncles, cousins and his many many friends both at home and abroad.
Funeral Arrangements
Aidan will be reposing at The Kiely Funeral Home, Dungarvan (X35 XN79) on Friday evening, February 7, from 4.30pm with Prayers at 7pm.
Requiem Mass at 11am on Saturday morning, February 8, in St. Augustine's Church, Abbeyside. Interment afterwards in St. Laurence's Cemetery, Ballinroad.
