Waterford Airport
No timeline has been given from Department of Transport on when it will make a decision on the provision of millions of euro in funding towards the runway extension at Waterford Airport.
Minister Eamon Ryan was asked in a recent written parliamentary question by independent TD Matt Shanahan what the timeline for his Department making a decision on funding is.
Deputy Shanahan had sought a "guaranteed timeline", taking into account "the extremely tight construction timelines pertaining to the project".
"I wish to assure the Deputy that my officials are currently appraising the material received from Waterford Airport in accordance with the requirements under the Public Spending Code/Infrastructure Guidelines," Minister Ryan said.
"I am not in a position to give a commitment on a timeframe for completion of this assessment. I anticipate extensive engagement between my officials and Waterford Airport over the coming weeks.
"I will consider my Department's assessment of this proposal when this engagement is complete," Minister Ryan said.
Early last December €12 million in private sector investment was confirmed by Comer Group International in partnership with the Bolster Group to develop the runway extension at Waterford Airport.
