Over 25 drivers were arrested in Waterford in December on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
That's according to An Garda Síochána, who have confirmed the numbers caught for drink driving in the county in the last month of 2023.
It comes following an extensive Christmas campaign focusing on drink and drug driving, during which Gardaí had the power to test drivers for the presence of alcohol and drugs.
Speaking to drivers ahead of the campaign, Gardaí stated: "We will intercept drink and drug drivers, please don’t be one of them."
Gardaí confirmed the Christmas period in Waterford City and county was "busy", and are urging any victims of crime or witnesses to crime during the period to come forward.
