Warning: Waterford gardaí report increase of house robberies and urge caution

Waterford gardaí have warned homeowners to be extra vigilant after an increase of burglaries in Waterford city and county in the past week.

Items including jewelry, Apple watches, a drone, a handbag and a mobile phone were stolen from three houses.

"Over the last week we have seen an increase in burglaries in Waterford city and county and we are looking for the public to be extra vigilant over the coming weeks. Statistically we see an increase in this type of offence during the holiday period," a garda spokesperson said.

The advice from gardaí is to lock up and light up, consider a security review. They say there is a good aid on the Garda.ie website to assist you with this.  This should also be extended to your vehicles and sheds.

"We would also encourage people to report any callers or people that seem suspiciously out of place in your locality.  You can do this at your local garda station or if you think a crime is being committed please phone 999/112 to report it," the spokesperson said.
